FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Answers to the questions I hear most often. If something isn’t covered here, you’re always welcome to reach out.
Do you offer free consultation calls?+
Because I maintain a full clinical practice, I do not routinely offer complimentary consultation calls. My website is designed to answer many of the questions prospective clients commonly have, including my therapeutic approach, areas of specialization, fees, and accepted insurance plans. If, after reviewing this information, you have a question that cannot be answered online, I am happy to assist. In some circumstances, I may recommend a brief phone conversation before scheduling to help determine whether I am the appropriate provider for your needs.
How do I know if you’re the right therapist for me?+
Finding the right therapeutic fit is one of the most important factors in successful therapy. If you’re looking for a therapist who provides trauma-informed, evidence-based, and affirming care through a collaborative and compassionate approach, Pacific Therapy may be a good fit. If I believe another clinician or level of care would better meet your needs, I will gladly provide appropriate referrals whenever possible.
What happens during the first appointment?+
The initial intake session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We’ll discuss what brings you to therapy, your personal history, current concerns, your goals for treatment, and any questions you may have. Together, we’ll begin developing a plan that reflects your needs and priorities.
How often will we meet?+
Most clients begin with weekly sessions to establish momentum and build a strong therapeutic foundation. As progress is made, we may transition to biweekly or less frequent appointments based on your goals, preferences, and clinical needs.
What types of therapy do you use?+
I integrate evidence-based approaches based on each client’s unique needs. Depending on your goals, therapy may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed interventions, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), mindfulness-based strategies, somatic approaches, and strengths-based, trauma-informed care.
Do you prescribe medication?+
No. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I provide psychotherapy and do not prescribe medication. If medication may be beneficial, I am happy to coordinate with your primary care provider or refer you to a qualified psychiatric provider.
Do you accept insurance?+
Yes. Current accepted insurance plans are listed on my website and may change over time. If you have questions about your coverage or benefits, I encourage you to contact your insurance company before your first appointment.
What if we’re not the right fit?+
Therapeutic fit is important. If either of us believes another clinician would better meet your needs, I will discuss this openly and help connect you with appropriate referrals whenever possible.
Is everything we discuss confidential?+
In almost all circumstances, yes. Therapy is confidential except in situations required by law or professional ethics, such as concerns involving imminent risk of harm, suspected abuse or neglect, or court orders. We will review confidentiality and its limits in detail during your intake appointment.
How do I schedule an appointment?+
If you believe Pacific Therapy is a good fit for your needs, you may schedule an intake appointment through my online scheduling system or contact me by email. I’ll guide you through the remaining steps before your first session.
